What a Proper Daikin AC and Heat Pumps Installation Includes (And Why It Matters Long-Term). Daikin AC and heat pumps are industry-leading and offer a variety of effective heating and cooling options for your home. When you decide to install a Daikin product, you know that you’re getting a high-quality unit for your home’s HVAC system.
To ensure an industry best-practice, code-compliant installation, you need a certified Daikin Comfort Pro (DCP), such as SmartHouse Heating and Cooling. A DCP is guaranteed to be properly trained on Daikin technology and to uphold high standards of work. SmartHouse takes things a step further with our “do the right thing” approach, which has earned us the BBB Torch Award for Ethics.
If you’re looking to install a Daikin system in your home, call us at 314-370-1816 or set up an appointment online. We’re always happy to help, whatever your HVAC needs are or questions you have.
In this post, we outline the steps that a proper Daikin AC and heat pump installation includes, how a DCP makes a difference in the process, and the difference it makes for correct system sizing, issue-free installations, and warranty eligibility.
Your SmartHouse DCP has undergone extensive, expert training on multiple Daikin HVAC products to ensure they are familiar with the ins and outs of each of them. While the steps will vary depending on which exact piece of equipment you are installing, here is a general overview of what to expect:
Before one of our Daikin Comfort Pros gets to work on your house, we will need to calculate the right system size for your home. Your project manager will conduct a Manual J Load Calculation to determine this as a part of the proposal process. Whether for a new installation or a replacement, we always take the time to conduct this calculation before installing a Daikin AC or heat pump, preventing issues down the road.
An improperly sized HVAC system can lower your system’s performance while raising your energy bills. A unit that’s too small will struggle to heat and cool your home while drawing extra power, while an oversized unit may short cycle, leading to uneven temperatures and spikes in energy usage.
For homes with an existing lineset that is in good condition and properly sized for the new system, there is no need to replace it. In this case, we flush the existing lineset with a special solvent to remove all traces of the old refrigerant and compression oil that is incompatible with the new system before moving on to Step 3.
For homes without a workable existing lineset, we will install a new one.
Next, we pressurize both existing and new refrigerant lines with nitrogen to check for leaks and make sure the lines are sound.
It’s critical to properly evacuate the system before moving forward. If any moisture is left in the lineset, it can cause serious damage and blockages to the system.
We use a specialized pump that removes all air and moisture from the lineset. While this takes time (and can take multiple rounds of evacuation), it is essential to ensure that your system is working properly and avoids damage and increased wear.
Once the lineset has been tested and evacuated, it’s time to add refrigerant. Refrigerant has to be handled by a licensed professional because it’s tightly regulated, can be dangerous if it’s mishandled, and requires special tools to protect both your equipment and the environment.
Our certified technicians make sure your system is safely and properly charged with refrigerant, exactly to Daikin’s specifications.
Both high and low voltage wires will be connected to your home’s new Daikin system and the thermostat. Many Daikin products are designed to work with a smart thermostat to give you control of the system.
Proper wiring includes using the correct wire gauge and ensuring that everything is properly grounded. The DCPs at SmartHouse know how to set up these connections correctly, ensuring that your unit is operating safely and efficiently, preventing comfort issues and system breakdowns.
Once your new system is up and running, we do detailed performance testing to make sure it’s operating as efficiently and effectively as it should, making any necessary adjustments and retesting until everything is performing optimally.
Once the system is up and running, your technicians will walk you through how your new system operates, help you download and set up the smart thermostat application (if applicable), and answer any questions you may have.
We’re dedicated to providing you with superior service, and if there’s anything we can do to help you get the most out of your system, our Daikin Comfort Pros will be ready to do it.
